My business half birthday

Happy half birthday!!!

Half Birthday’s are a thing right?! Well they are now. It’s been 6 months since I set as a freelance marketing consultant. Basically,  I know how to market architects, engineers and contractors to other businesses (B2B). With the market in its current state - these skills are becoming increasingly important as businesses fight to thrive or even survive.

Here are some highlights:

Finding cool clients to work with - From a coding club launching a new online platform to a project controls consultancy wanting to run themed monthly content on LinkedIn or writing opinion pieces on sustainability and architecture and working with a contractor to figure out a strategy to launch into a new market sector. My work has been varied but that’s what I love.

Upping my game on LinkedIn - from posts about my new podcast, to commentary on Airbnb to Marcus Rashford – I do love to post on LinkedIn. It’s a great place to share your expertise, thoughts and to engage with others and connect. It’s also been a great place to build relationships in the especially in the absence of physical events during lockdown.

Launching my podcast Marketing In Times of Crisis - I’ve loved podcasts for years and to do my own has been a dream. I’ve learnt new skills – got to find and talk to interesting guests about the thing I love – built environment marketing – what’s not to love.  It’s also opened up new opportunities for my business too – an added bonus. 5 episodes are already out - do check them out here - if you haven’t already done so.  The next batch of episodes will be out in early September.

Getting a write up from a podcasting goddess – That one made my day social shares and being in Emma Gannon’s newsletter.  I was ecstatic.

Hosting a built environment panel session about race and equality in the built environment.  I was honoured to be asked and it was a really informative session – I learnt a lot too.

So, what’s going to have in the next 6 months - who knows but I’m sure looking forward to it. Do drop me a message if you want to chat through what you’ve got in mind marketing wise in the next few months.  It’s going to continue to be tough out there but there are ways through.
