RIBA Architecture Awards 2025 jury appointment

The RIBA Award Juries for 2025 have been announced and Abbas Marketing Founder, Ayo Abbas is on the list.

The jury had it’s first training session last week, Ayo is really looking forward to getting stuck in as a judge, especially when we get to the project visits part.

She’ll be a lay assessor judge, professionals with an interest in architecture who aren’t architects. She has already created her own nifty spreadsheet with the judging criteria and projects to help her in the coming weeks start her initial review of the entries for her region. She will then take part in a shortlisting judging panel online in Feb to talk through her thoughts.

Ayo said: “I am looking forward to getting to know the other judges from my region and having the chance to visit the shortlisted projects in March. And congrats to two fellow comms pros to Liz Earwaker and Sarah Worth who are also lay person assessors. Thanks to RIBA for the opportunity and also for everyone who has taken time to enter the awards. I know how much work it takes.”

Anyway, find out more about the awards and who else makes up the jury this year here

I will be drafting a blog series called The Diary of RIBA Judge to shed more light on what’s involved and hopefully encourage more diverse voices to apply.
