Be more like Marcus
If you're looking for a positive role model that exemplifies our current times - then I urge you to check out Marcus Rashford from Man United for his amazingly inspiring efforts to fight food poverty for children in the UK.
He not only wrote an inspirational open letter to all MPs asking them to join forces to get the Government to make a U-turn on their decision to end the free food vouchers scheme over Summer. A scheme that was helping so many desperate families to feed themselves during lockdown with schools being closed. For many in poverty, free school meals may be the one hot meal that young people get that day so they serve a vitally important service,
His letters drew on his experiences of growing up in poverty and the struggles that his mum faced to get food onto the table. Read his open letter and I dare you not to be inspired.
What I hadn't realised until this morning was that he also spent his time during lockdown fundraising for the food poverty cause that mattered so much to him. He initially set himself a £100k fundraising target in support of @fareshareuk but through his efforts helped the amount raised hit over £20m which is helping to feed 3 million people.
If there's ever a story that shows that we can all make a difference; it's this one.
