[00:00:00] [Ayo Abbas] [Ayo Abbas] Hello and welcome to the Built Environment Marketing Show. Today is my first episode of 2025. Yes, I know it's March, so I've probably missed quite a few months already. We've had a bit of a longer break. than normal. Um, but we are back and I have been thinking about what I want to do this show. And I am going to be changing things around slightly just to keep it fresh and interesting for both you as the audience and also for me.
And actually this morning, because I've been meaning to record this intro all week, which I haven't done it was very funny taking my son to school and I said, Ooh, I have not put out any episodes of my own podcast, The Built Environment Marketing Show. I have been working on The Interchange Podcast.
And he turned around and said Mum. That's not good, is it? You're going to end up losing listeners because you haven't been putting anything out. You really need to get on that. So I have been scolded by my 10 year old [00:01:00] and when I see him this evening, I will say, guess what? I've recorded the intros.
They're getting edited. They'll be out now. Anyway, onto my plans for 2025 for this show. So I still love doing this podcast. I love the conversations I get to have, the people I get to meet, and also I guess the topics and things I end up having to think about and delve into. So all of that is still going to remain exactly the same.
It's still going to be a show that's all about marketing for the built environment and I'm not an architect, I'm a marketer, I've got a business degree, so that tends to be the angle that I take. And in terms of what I'm going to do, so this year what I really want to do is talk. I guess more in depth on certain topics and have themed episodes which will run over a number of episodes, different interviews different kind of solo episodes as well, all under a particular umbrella.
And to kick things off, the first thing we're going to talk about sustainability. So the idea is that [00:02:00] We'll have some different guests talking about different aspects of sustainability. For example, I've got an episode which will be out next week with Rosie Cade and Bridget Clement, which will talk all about sustainability and communications and climate.
And then I'm also looking at doing one on activism and sustainability and communications for architecture practices and also potentially sustainability in terms of websites. Looking at a theme, taking it, across a number of areas of marketing and I think it will give us all more depth and for me, I will find it quite interesting to talk to different people on these things because I think none of these topics are standalone.
So I think it's about looking at it in a holistic way, which is what I'm hoping to do more of. So that is what we'll be doing. Other themes I'm thinking around are around engagement and connection. Something about also, when firms, when I change their structure. So things about when people become employer and trusts, how they communicate and what they do around that.
But also about the kind of mergers and [00:03:00] acquisitions, because quite often when smaller firms are bought by larger practices, how do you do the communications around that? That was actually something I worked on a long time ago when Whippy Bird was brought out by Ramboll. I also find that kind of aspect of communications quite interesting in terms of how you merge the voices together and the people and all that kind of stuff.
So yeah, so there's lots of kind of themes and topics that are bubbling around in my mind. So that's it. So it's probably going to work a bit more like themes and seasons. So I'll come back and you'll get a Burst of episodes on that topic. And then I'll go away and find the next topic and start recording for that.
So that's how it's going to work. If you do have any ideas on topics and themes that I might should look at feel free to email me as normal on io at a bass marketing. com. Yeah, I'd love to hear. Yeah. Just what you think of that. Different way to do the interviews, but there'll still be interviews and conversations, which is what I love doing.
And other things about the show. So as well as sustainability, there'll also be things [00:04:00] like over summer, last summer I did that practical snacks, which were short 10 minute episodes of like practical tips on a certain topic. So I'll definitely record some more of those and I'll release those over summer again when I'm away.
So yeah, so there'll be. Lots more episodes coming up. If you like the show, please do share about us on social media cause it helps more people to hear from us. Yeah. And just make sure you're following us on Apple or Spotify wherever you listen. And yeah, I'm going to see you next week. Thank you so much.
Take care. Bye.
